Synack Acropololis Web Design
Recognition Site for Security Hackers/Researchers
Client Overview
Synack is a technology company thatcombines AI and machine learning-enabled, security software with a crowdsourcednetwork of “white-hat” hackers to keep its customers secure.
Situation
Synack was looking to launch a recognition program focused on an“Acropolis” website for security researchers which required an updated visual design and UX template. The goal was to craft a new website spin on the traditional leaderboard used in hacker communities in order to highlight the best of its extensive andelite group of security researchers regardless of tenure/status.

Insights, Action, and Creative Strategy
- Hackers/Security researchers are driven by peer recognition and appreciate badges and community accolades.
- Site was designed to have an edgy,gamer-like look and feel to appeal to this target by having a darker color palette and glitchy animation style without straying too far from theoverarching corporate brand while maintaining its own identity.
- Concept was designed around finding ways to level the playing field for recognition across tenured and new researchers.
- Categorization/gamification structure wascreated to be based on earned levels and was constructed to easily evolve forfuture growth in team members.
